We had a few companies come out to quote us on a red oak tree that was right next to our fenced in property and all suggested a crane would be required to work in such a tight space. Unfortunately the prices were way too high so whe Elias gave me his quote, it was much lower since his team doesn't use a crane. I was very hesitant at first as I was very afraid of the huge limbs falling on my house but after reading all the excellent reviews in combination with the great price he quoted me, I took a chance and boy am I glad I went with his team. His team are rope masters. They did an amazing job bringing each and every limb down without causing any damage and his crew did a great job of cleanup. They took down my fence to avoid any damage and put it back in place as it was originally. Would highly recommend him if you want quality service and great prices. They are highly efficient too. I was expecting them to take the whole day and they were able to take down the tree and remove the stump in a few hours.

Elias came immediately to my house for a free quote on a Saturday. We got three quotes, one of which was the same as Ax, but Elias' immediate response and listening to our concerns is what set them apart. They spent two grueling days taking down a 120 year old willow oak (six feet across) that was within five feet of our house! The team of men were very knowledgeable and worked well together, which led to the massive tree to be safety taken down. They did all of this without a crane as it was not possible to get one near the tree behind our house with all the power lines. There was some minor damage to a gutter, which was repaired immediately the following day. The team stayed late to make sure all the saw dust and wood chips were removed. Called Ax Tree Services a little after 9 pm expecting to leave a message to get an estimate, since it was night. Elias answered and agreed to come by and give an estimate around noon the next day. He came as promised and gave me a fair quote. His crew came the following day. They removed the tree expertly and safely. They worked as a well-coordinated team. Very efficient. Afterwards, they picked up all branches and debris. This was an older tree that stood near a deck, and it had a lot of branches. I had the stump ground up as well -- same excellent service. Zero lawn damage! For the work involved and machines used, I had expected at least some damage. Ax Tree Services clearly cares about doing a great job, not just a good one.

I contacted Ax as a second estimate for my tree/stump removal project. They came in cheaper and completed the project faster than the my first estimate. I contacted Ax via the website on Saturday, traded texts with project lead on Sunday, and Monday afternoon they were out here to do the project (they removed 5 dead pine trees ranging from 12-21'). Amazing .... I am in Woodbridge. I needed to fell 2 huge maples, 40 and 60 feet. A friend recommended a company from Culpeper whose estimate was 7K+. So, I used google reviews and got 3 other estimates.

Another reviewer of AX Tree Service said he was best price from 6 estimates. Elias looked at the trees, asked what work I wanted (fell them, remove all, grind stumps and clean up). Elias took note that this was a busy street, huge limbs over my house and the neighbors. No hard sell or BS. He emailed me in a couple of hours with the estimate. He happened to match the lowest bid. But, he added a crane!

The 5 trucks and 8 men started showing up at 7am and at the appt. time, 8am the crane was up and the saw started. What a smooth, cordinated safe job! I speak from experience as a retired fire officer. Every single guy knew his job.

3pm - crane work is done and at 4pm I was moving cars back into the driveway. I usually have some constructive critism. But - there is no way I saw for improvement.

Jose and his team were awesome! They are incredibly efficient and hard workers. These guys are beasts! They were fast, thorough, professional and knew exactly what to do. We took out 50 trees and had 45 stumps grinded and they gave us the best price by far. Sometimes 2/3 cheaper than their competitors. They cleaned up after every day they worked as it took 2 1/2 days and when they left we had an open yard and no tree debris. The only thing left was some mulch from the stumps which is fine because we are going to lay down top soil and seed the yard to have a nice lawn where this huge island of trees once was. So happy to have hired Jose and his team.

We had 2 big trees taken down; and the only complaint is that we had some cracks in our irrigation system afterwards because big pieces of tree limbs/tree trunks were dropped onto the ground with such force. I think this was inevitable due to the size of the trees. I would use them again and would highly recommend. I would just suggest mapping out where the irrigation pipes are underground so they can avoid those areas when dropping pieces of the tree on the ground.

Before we had a chance to schedule them, one of our trees snapped in a recent wind storm and they came out the next day to secure the limb and did our full removal the following day. Called Ax Tree Services a little after 9 pm expecting to leave a message to get an estimate, since it was night. Elias answered and agreed to come by and give an estimate around noon the next day. He came as promised and gave me a fair quote. His crew came the following day. They removed the tree expertly and safely. They worked as a well-coordinated team. Very efficient. Afterwards, they picked up all branches and debris. This was an older tree that stood near a deck, and it had a lot of branches. I had the stump ground up as well -- same excellent service. Zero lawn damage! For the work involved and machines used, I had expected at least some damage. Ax Tree Services clearly cares about doing a great job, not just a good one.

Responded promptly to a request for a quote. Needed to have a tree pruned down after a larger branch broke off. So far the tree seems to still be in great shape (it had to be cut back significantly) The work was done quickly and they left the yard cleaner than they found it.

I solicited several companies for estimates on a tree and stump removal. The tree was over 60 feet tall, very large, and relatively close to the surrounding homes. Many companies that came to offer quotes were intimidated and fearful of the project- thus, adding additional costs to the job.

Ax Tree Service came, delivered an estimate, stated that the job can be completed within a couple of hours, and offered available dates within a two-day time span. This was important considering the age and weight of the tree and the storms that were said to hit VA in the coming weeks. The estimator was extremely considerate with our fear of the tree falling and potentially harming others and was more than willing to accommodate us with scheduling.

The estimator was polite and very responsive while addressing scheduling questions and the contract items. The men who completed the work were equally as respectful and thorough. The day of the project, the team arrived, explained their plan and strategy with confidence, answered any questions we had, and even offered suggestions for replanting and/or lawn care once the project was complete.

AX Tree Service does a lot more than trees, it turns out. They completely replaced my terrible lawn with excellent sod that was cut the same day. It looks wonderful! But the best part about their work is not just their ingredients, but the work they do. They ground out some stumps and bamboo I had. Led by their owner Elias, they were incredibly quick, clean, and responsive to any suggestions or questions I had during the process. They always cleaned as they went, so there were no horrible mud slicks or debris to contend with. The price was very reasonable.

I had two fairly large (20-30 ft) trees, one of which was dead and right on the neighbors fence line a challenge) and the other right next the house, which I needed removed. The owner responded instantly and came out less than two hours after I messaged on yelp. The owner offered a very fair quote based on other quotes we had received. More impressively, they were able to come out the very next day with 5 guys. Knocked the trees out in about half a day and removed stumps. Very professional, and no apparent damage to anything. Overall I strongly recommend. At first I was concerned as they had no yelp reviews yet, but they did a good job, so happy to be their first review.
